Green Gardens is owned and operated as a partnership by Sebastian Chow and Julie Lacourciere. We are a small-scale market garden based in South Maitland growing vegetables and cut flowers. We employ organic growing methods without the use of pesticides or herbicides which, in the end, translates to healthier food, more ethical flowers, and a better choice for our environment. Growing from seed to fruit is kind of magical and we’re just happy to facilitate the wonder of nature. It’s important to us to tread lightly in the world and create a happy, healthy environment and grow happy, healthy food and flowers. Green Gardens loosely follows Eliot Coleman’s organic crop rotation methods. Although organic certification is not a priority, only organic growing methods will be used. Of the cultivated acres, the majority will be dedicated to produce and some will be for cut flowers and we have fruit trees and berry bushes as well as 800 crowns of asparagus. Our production will expand to include an unheated greenhouse and several hoop houses.
