Avondale Sky Winery and Restaurant
Avondale Sky Winery is located on the beautiful Avon Peninsula, and it has won many awards.
Avondale Sky is based in the historic St. Matthews Church which was transported 42 kilometers from Walton, NS and refurbished into the winery’s retail location. Not only can visitors enjoy award-winning wine and fantastic food, they can also admire the structure’s unique and authentic stained glass windows. The Globe and Mail described Avondale Sky’s “great travelling church” as one of the most “lovely and tranquil wine tasting rooms in the world.”
Avondale Sky has received local and national recognition for the quality of their wine. “Our winemaker, Ben Swetnam, graduated from the Niagara College Winery and Viticulture Program. He’d practiced his craft in other Nova Scotia wineries and in Germany before moving to Avondale Sky. Having made wine here since 2009, Ben has created products for a broad range of tastes.”
Avondale Sky wines are now available in NSLC stores and private wine stores as well as at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market on weekends.
Avondale Sky Winery also serves delicious food in the adjoining restaurant which is open from Tuesday to Sunday and in the newly opened Mosher House which is available for private event bookings. The restaurant’s menu changes often and is based on mostly seasonal and local ingredients..
