The Haligonian Cafe & Bistro
The Haligonian Cafe & Bistro, Halifax
The Haligonian started in a small town with big dreams, dreams that have been 9 years in the making. Owners Robin and Donovan are a young couple who are both Nova Scotia natives. Donovan has a degree in Theatre from the Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Robin graduated top of her class in the Baking & Pastry program at College of the Atlantic in Stephenville, Newfoundland.
The dream of opening a restaurant was Donovan’s, so meeting Robin was perfect serendipity. With his determination and her level head, they had the perfect combination to dive headfirst into the restaurant business.
Their location has been a lot of things in its lifetime. For a while it was a single-family home, and a bookstore, and another cafe before they moved in! It’s a great little building with a lot of history and a lot of stories to tell. There are plans in the works to dig up some more in-depth history of the place and feature some of the stories on the wall.
The Haligonian Cafe and Bistro is all about community, and Halifax is all about its history. For more information, check out their website and “like” them on Facebook!
